Meet the Team: Keith Rogers, Senior Estimator
Meet Keith Rogers, Senior Estimator. Keith has worked for HSM for 11 years and enjoys building partnerships as part of his role. Outside of work he enjoys cinema and theatre trips, and spending time with his family, particularly his wife, three daughters and 11 grandchildren.
What does your role involve?
My role as Senior Estimator involves providing quotes to clients as well as delivering customer support. When a job request or enquiry comes in, I liaise with the client to gather further information from them about their requirements such as timescales, quantities, materials, finishes etc, and then I’ll speak to our team to ascertain which of our services will be required to meet the brief. This enables me to provide accurate quotes for clients, incorporating all the service elements that will be required.
This process sometimes involves me conducting customer visits to gather more information and understand what’s needed, or organising for customers to visit us so that they can view production options, see our facilities and understand the process fully.
What’s your career background?
I kicked off my career by completing a four-year Sheet Metal Apprenticeship, which equipped me with the skills I needed to become a sheet metal worker for the next two years.
After this I worked as a Quality Inspector for two years and then moved into the office doing programming and quoting for a further three years. I then became a Technical Director, a role I remained in for 19 years.
My next career move came when I was approached to set up and run a sheet metal business, which I did for the next five years.
I joined HSM in 2014 as the Quality Manager, and moved into the sales office in 2019 as Senior Estimator.
What are the most rewarding and challenging parts of your role?
I find working closely with customers really rewarding as it allows me to nurture working relationships and strengthen partnerships. Winning new orders is also very rewarding, as is seeing jobs completed on time, meeting - and often exceeding - client expectations.
What are your aims for the coming year?
I’d like to help the business grow and continue to build partnerships, maintaining our high levels of service and improving the company’s position.
