Doubling Capacity: Havant Sheet Metal's Haeger Success Story

Havant Sheet Metal, based on the south coast of Hampshire, acquired their first Haeger from Press-Form machinery back in 2020. Year on year HSM have seen a growth in the order book at an exponential rate. This of course having a knock-on effect on the insertion department.

In Q1 2023 Havant Sheet Metal reached out to Press-Form, with the requirement for a second machine in order to cope with order growth. Tony Molloy, operations manager invited Ryan to their factory.

It was quickly established the machine best suited to the application was a Haeger 618MSPe-5. Equipped with multi station platform and Insertion Logic 5 software.

The multi station platform reduces the handling time of each part and increased productivity through single part handling. With 4 stations enabled for 4 different tools to be set up at one time, The insertion logic software changes the insertion force depending on the station. Keeping insertion forces accurate and consistent.

"We have used Press-Form for some years now and they always offer fast and friendly service. This latest addition to the HSM portfolio not only doubles our capacity in the Insertion department but allows us to be more efficient with the multi station platform.

"Anthony the engineer attended site to commission and carry out training and had us up and running in no time at all. Ryan and the team have all been very professional and helpful throughout the ordering of the Haeger and would recommend to anyone looking to purchase any new machinery." Said Tony Molloy, Operations Manager

"It is often misconstrued that the biggest time saver is automatically feeding stud, nuts, standoffs etc. This may be true when dealing with large amounts of the same fastener. 3 seconds per insert verse 10 seconds per insert manually. However, if you are dealing with a large variety of inserts and multiples going into the same part then the biggest time saver comes from handling the part only the once.

"Imagine 3 different type fasteners going into one part. Traditionally the operator would need to change the tooling and the insertion force according to the fastener. Now, with Insertion logic 5 all the guess work is taken away. Write a program and the software will automatically change the insertion force depending on the fastener being inserted. Anybody can use the machine, load the job and the pressures are set. Accurate and consistent from the first install to the last." Ryan Strafford, Press-Form Sales Manager
