Paint Shop Supervisor

This role involves leading and taking ownership of the paint shop, ensuring high-quality powder coating and wet spray finishes are delivered on time, to specification and to company standards. It is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical skill with the drive to improve processes, develop the team and make the paint shop a centre of excellence.

Previous supervisory or senior operator experience in a manufacturing setting is essential, as is experience in powder coating and wet spraying to a high industrial standard.

Key deliverables:

  • Consistent achievement of production targets and quality standards.
  • Continuous improvements implemented in safety, efficiency and quality.
  • A motivated, well-trained paint shop team.
  • Minimal rework and waste from paint shop processes.

Core responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the paint shop, making decisions to keep production on track.
  • Plan and allocate workloads to meet production schedules and priorities.
  • Train, coach and mentor paint shop team members to develop skills and flexibility.
  • Carry out powder coating and wet spraying to a high industrial standard.
  • Operate and maintain paint shop equipment, including spray guns, booths and ovens.
  • Track progress against production targets and report overruns or issues promptly.
  • Carry out in-process quality checks, recording results accurately.
  • Investigate quality concerns, identify root causes and take corrective action.
  • Promote a culture of “right first time” across the paint shop.
  • Promote and enforce safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure correct use of PPE and compliance with all health and safety procedures.

Team Leader

Department: Production
Reporting to: Operations Supervisor

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and supporting a team of operators to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

This role requires strong leadership on the shop floor, clear communication of daily priorities and proactive problem solving to maintain production flow. The Team Leader will promote company values through their behaviour, ensure standards are maintained and support continuous improvement across their work centres.

An understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, particularly press brake operations, would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and support the production team, promoting a positive and productive working environment.
  • Lead by example in behaviour, attendance, work ethic and adherence to company values.
  • Communicate daily production priorities clearly to the team.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to resolve operational issues.
  • Maintain discipline and behaviour standards in line with company expectations.
  • Identify training needs within the team and advise the Operations Supervisor accordingly.

Production & Performance

  • Execute the daily production plan and ensure work centres remain on schedule.
  • Ensure parts are produced to the correct quantity, quality and within estimated times.
  • Monitor productivity and highlight time overruns or production issues.
  • Ensure available capacity meets the production plan and support overtime planning when required.
  • Attend and contribute to the daily production meeting at 07:30.
  • Encourage and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Quality

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Liaise with the Quality Team to address production issues or non-conformances.
  • Promote a 'right first time' culture within the team.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Ensure all employees follow Health & Safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Report hazards, incidents or unsafe practices promptly.
  • Support the implementation of safe working practices and improvements.

Equipment & Work Centres

  • Ensure machinery and work centres are operated efficiently.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed.
  • Monitor machine condition and ensure servicing schedules are maintained.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Supervisor to arrange prompt repair of machinery breakdowns.

Communication & Coordination

  • Liaise with the Operations Supervisor to ensure production priorities are met.
  • Provide feedback to the Operations Supervisor on team performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure team holidays and absence are communicated and managed in line with production requirements.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes (press brake knowledge desirable).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and maintain production flow.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Press Brake Operator

As a Press Brake Operator, you will be a key player in our production team, responsible for setting up and operating CNC press brakes to produce high-quality sheet metal components. Your expertise will ensure our production targets are met efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate all CNC press brakes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans and engineering drawings.
  • Ensure production processes are cost-effective and report any time overruns.
  • Promote and maintain our quality standards in collaboration with the Quality Manager.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in developing ideas to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Support training requirements and mentor team members.
  • Provide feedback to management to enhance processes and quality control.

Additional skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Competence in using CAD software.
  • Knowledge of material properties and their impact on press brake operations.
  • Ability to analyse production data for continuous improvement.

TIG Welder

The primary function is to be a skilled sheet metal welder fabricator carrying out all welding / fabrication activities within our company. Ensure production targets are achieved by effective communication, motivation & discipline. Provide feedback to Production Manager & our supervision team to improve our processes & quality control. Ensure the correct quantity of parts are produced efficiently, to a high standard & within estimated times. Promote a safe working environment & ensure Health & Safety procedures are supported.

Reporting to Team Leader

Sheet Metal Fabricators

This role will require you to be a skilled sheet metal fabricator, carrying out all fabrication activities as required. You will ensure production targets are achieved via effective communication, motivation and discipline. You will also be expected to provide feedback to our Production Manager and supervision team to allow us improve our processes and quality control. It will be your responsibility to ensure the correct quantity of parts are produced efficiently, to a high standard and within estimated times. 

Key deliverables:

  • To be able to read and understand blueprints, plans or engineering drawings.
  • Set and operate all ancillary sheet metal machinery including saw, tube bend, drills, countersinking, tapping,
    spotweld etc.
  • Set and operate press brakes  and Trumpf 1000 punch press (training provided if required).
  • Ensure that the production processes are cost effective and report time overruns.
  • Promote the company's Brand Promise.
  • Ensure our quality standards are being maintained in conjunction with the Quality Manager.
